What to watch this weekend: John Green fever

The Fault in Our Stars

YA author John Green’s bestselling tearjerker novel-turned-movie about teenage cancer patients falling in love (we’re getting all choked up just thinking about it) should be pretty good. Tweens have come a long way since Twilight, haven’t they? Gives us hope. Just go for a late screening to avoid the kiddy crowd.

22 Jump Street

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are baaack as two bumbling cops who go undercover as high school students for a drug bust. The absurdity of the premise is somewhat weakened these days by 30-year-olds playing teenagers on Glee.

The Angriest Man in Brooklyn

Robin Williams plays the most disgruntled, crotchety, offensive old dude ever… until he finds out he only has 90 minutes to live!

Last Passenger

This British indie film about a train collision doesn’t sound like the most exciting thing on earth, but critics say it’s not too bad. Don’t expect it to look anything like a conventional, Hollywood disaster flick.

The Trials of Cate MCall

Kate Beckinsale plays a former hotshot lawyer struggling for redemption in this Lifetime-sounding melodrama. Probably for Beckinsale fans only.
