An organic, dairy-free (and affordable) happy hour just launched in Telok Ayer

The CBD is no stranger to healthy food options, but an exciting new opening from early this year has been Kitchen by Food Rebel. It’s kinda grungy, but has quickly established a reputation for wholesome eating and drinking, especially with special events like Meat Free Mondays. Now they’re giving TGIF the healthy treatment, too.

As of a few days ago, they’ve launched Food Rebel Fridays, where you can bust out of the office early and head over for organic food and drink from as early at 5:30pm. On the snack menu are the locally inspired, dairy- and nut-free Rebel chicken sliders, which have a dash of both sweet and spicy with the addition of gula melaka caramelized onions and spicy Malay sauce ($13). But if you’re a vegetarian, go for the gluten-free rendang-sauced patatas bravas with a subtle kick ($9) or their egg frittata stuffed with shitake mushrooms and arugula ($12.50).

What we’re especially intrigued by, though, is their focus on affordable organic and biodynamic wines from France, also available for Food Rebel Fridays, including crisp white wines from Alsace and easy-drinking reds from the Rhone and Loire Valleys and other boutique wineries. Wines by the glass start at a sweet $12 and bottles at $65.
