Did you know that veteran actress Selena Tan was inspired by a male cabaret group at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to create the Dim Sum Dollies? Well if you didn’t, then head over to House is Open, a new online interactive game experience that introduces you to plenty of exciting trivia and exclusive content about famous local musicals.
Developed by new local musical collective Fill the Vamp, the House is Open is all about raising awareness and appreciation for the musical theatre genre in Singapore. And in case you were wondering, its name takes after the backstage term house is open, that signals audiences to head into the theatre before the show begins.
Simply play across three levels and find various hidden props strewn across the stage, each revealing facts, interviews with show creatives and even videos of Fill the Vamp singing musical covers.
For instance, the collective presents a contemporary take on “Hero for a Day” from the stage pantomime Monkey Goes West as well as a medley inspired by the Dim Sum Dollies’ repertoire of songs.
So check out House is Open from now till Aug 31—you’ll even be able to learn more about the budding theatre troupe.
