This weekend, expect a multitude of parties to go down all around Singapore, the start of the annual Singapore Night Festival and Baybeats, as well as some art and literary activities—thrown in just to mix things up a little. Soak it all in now, September is only a week away.

This Friday, the Visual Arts Centre will be hosting an Art Studio Open House with plenty of activities and workshops available for participation. Find a glass painting workshop where you can paint your very own wine glass, as well as a watercolour or acrylic painting art jamming session. Aug 23

Party people Look Ma, No Hands! will be throwing their biggest party yet, in celebration of their initiative EmoNightSg’s third anniversary. This Friday, party alongside Baybeats Festival 2019, as EmoNightSg, held at the Esplanade Annexe Studio will be free-of-charge and open to all ages. Aug 23

Join Johnnie Walker’s search party (quite literally) in finding the next national cocktail at The Search for Singapore’s Next Iconic Cocktail. All seven creations from seven bars in Singapore including Jigger and Pony and Tippling Club will be fighting it out at Neon Pigeon for a chance to have their beverage crowned The Next Singapore Iconic Cocktail. Happening end-Aug is the highly-anticipated Singapore Night Festival, held within the Bras Basah-Bugis precinct. And returning for the second time since their first performance at Night Fest’s fifth edition is Fuerza Bruta, who will once again impress with their acrobatic and aerial acts. Aug 23-31

FESTIVAL
Feed your soul with gritty, grunge sounds of emo and metal, sultry indie shoegaze, laid back RnB beats, pure rock headbangers and all things alternative at the annual music festival, Baybeats 2019. Although the rock-fueled Powerhouse Stage has been closed to make room for the new Waterfront Theatre, two additional venues have been added, on top of the customary Arena, Chillhout Stage and Annex Studio sites. Aug 23-25

BOOK
Singaporean-American novelist and recipient of the Singapore Literature Prize Amanda Lee Koe will be flying in from New York to hold a discussion about her new book, Delayed Rays of a Star. A story about womanhood and shifting political tides in the twentieth century, head to Books Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store to have your questions answered by the acclaimed writer. Aug 24

Feel like you’re not doing enough for the environment? This Saturday, Potato Head will be doing something a little different for their fifth anniversary, by hosting a beach clean-up session. And as a reward for your voluntary hard work and participation, they’ll actually be giving away limited edition key rings that’ll let you enjoy 10% off when you dine at Potato Head in the future. Aug 24

After their major block party Brew that happened in June, electronic music label Darker Than Wax and Chye Seng Huat will be collaborating once again to bring one back this August. Come Saturday night, see the popular coffee house transformed into a brew and beats party. Aug 24
