We’ve been hankering for a proper block party to descend upon us, and after a lurid dry spell, we’re finally about to get one again next month.
Riding on the success of their smashing inaugural run last year, Bites & Vibes by Foodpanda and Sunshine Nation will return come Sep 1. It’ll be held once again on Amoy Street, and given how much that stretch has changed with restaurants and bars coming and going, we can’t wait to see how the block party will evolve too.
Expect plenty of food and drinks, of course, with vendors like 25 Degrees, Chico Loco and Sarnies dishing out good grub, while the folks from Asia Pacific Brewery and William Grant & Sons will make sure our thirst is satiated.
Keeping things upbeat are local indie bands Bakers in Space and Stopgap rocking the main stage, while brass band Bari Rumbles Brass will be working the streets throughout the day. On deck duty are DJs like KiDG and James Selva, as well as DJ Heffny, known for throwing down his brand of sick R&B beats at top clubs around the world, but who is also a top rider for Foodpanda. We just hope he doesn’t ride and spin at the same time.
Other things to do include yoga and ballet classes you can sign up for, as well as lawn games like Giant Jenga, Connect 4 and Ring Toss to keep you entertained. There’s even a walking tour you can go on, where a guide will regale you with historical tales of the storied district.
Bites & Vibes 2019 happens Sep 1, 12-10pm at Amoy Street.
