Party responsibly at rooftop bashes and throwback shindigs

The novel coronavirus may be dampening appetites to head out, but we all know we can’t stay in our homes forever. When the night calls for it, live it up—all the clubs in town are still hosting regular, themed parties to help you relax and kick back. Plus, plenty of musical performances are happening all throughout March, alongside art exhibitions and literary-inspired festivals.

Party it up at Potato Head Singapore as they join forces with Singapura Dub Club and Suka Suka to bring back the most happening rooftop Reggae party, every first Sunday of the month. Offering reggae, dub, and roots played by the best local and international DJs, be treated to yummy Caribbean-inspired tipples and nosh too. Mar 1

A low tech electronic music event is happening, and all it requires is a small donation as an entry fee. At Tonehouse, Binary will feature musical folks like Armless Dentist, Aussie’s Classic Mistake, and America’s Snoopdroop. A livestream will be available on Twitch, if you’re not into the idea of leaving your home during this harrowing period. Mar 2

Debuting in Singapore mid-March is famed London jazz group Ezra Collective, known for being the pioneers of the new wave U.K jazz besides having collaborated with luminaries such as Jorja Smith and Loyle Carner. Marrying the best of jazz, afrobeat, and hip hop, Ezra Collective will bring their unique tunes here thanks to none other than Collective Minds. Mar 3

DRINK
Blend your own gin at The Providore Mandarin Gallery, as Singapore’s Brand Ambassador for Kyro Distillery Fadly Sujebto will be bringing participants on a gin journey, exploring the various base botanicals used in Kyro’s gins. All guests will even get to bring home their personalised miniature bottle of gin, blended from their choice of botanical notes. Mar 4

COMEDY
Following sold out runs across Asia, award-winning comedian Jinx Yeo returns to our sunny shores for more. Expect hard-hitting punchlines as well as relatable content, as Yeo dishes out jokes about his conservative and strict upbringing and more. Mar 5

ART
If you’ve got a thing for flora, check out Cuturi Gallery’s latest exhibition, In Full Bloom. Featuring 13 artworks from 13 contemporary artists, the gallery won’t just be showcasing new works, but new talents too. It’s time to kick things up a notch at Marquee Singapore as the MBS nightclub will be presenting Above & Beyond during the first week of March. Expect a wild and rambunctious TGIF party to take place. You won’t want to miss the chance to party with these regular music festival headliners. Mar 6

Throwing a literary-inspired warehouse party is #BuySingLit at the Pasir Panjang Power Station, and while we’d never have thought of the literary movement as party people, we’re sure it’ll be a heck of a hoedown. Laugh alongside American comedian Robyn Perkins as she shares personal stories about her life. A regular performer in the UK, US and Australia, Perkins will tackle some of life’s biggest and most emotionally charged topics on stage, in the most hilarious way possible. Mar 6-7

Brother duo K.E.E.N.E will tear up the dance floor at Ce La Vi come Saturday evening, with their house and techno beats. So you know where to go if you need a little EDM in your life. Mar 7

EVENT
Do some good this month by cleaning up the ocean with Singapore Asia Development Network and Aquapak Polymers Inc. Grab your friends and scuba gear equipment, and head down to Lazarus Island via a ferry ride. You’ll require diving experience though; you need to be AOWD certified, and have at least logged 20 dives, including one in Singapore. Mar 7

Celebrating a year of triumphs with music and treats is Zenko Superfoods’ first anniversary party. Be part of the brand’s warehouse party where free sunset wellness programmes, live DJ sets, and water lily pops will be dished out. Mar 7

FESTIVAL
A fiesta that celebrates food, arts and wellness, Sprout Fest by City Sprouts allows the local community to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, by creating a space that connects them with urban nature. The first South African DJ and record producer to be crowned the best deep house DJ at the 2017 DJ Awards in Ibiza, the legendary Black Coffee, will be in town for a Saturday revelry at Marquee Singapore. We’re hoping to hear “Get It Together”, “Drive” and many more live. Mar 7

The Singapore Biennale has returned for its sixth edition, promising over 150 artworks in various mediums across 11 different venues in our city. During the opening weekend, look forward to unique artist performances, guided tours led by curators and artists, as well as fun workshops. Through Mar 22

Discover Singapore’s early history at On Paper: Singapore Before 1867 which features over 150 paper-based artefacts that tell the story of Singapore’s early history. Carefully preserved pieces like the 17th century Portugese navigational chart that points to the existence of a Shahbandar in Singapore and a key document that established the Straits Settlements as a Crown Colony of Great Britain in 1867 can all be found at the National Library Building. Through Mar 22

Soul Vibe Sundays 2.5 Edition will definitely encompass everything we like about Camp Kilo Charcoal Club, so if you’re a fan of roasts, cocktails, music and vintage clothing, head down to the BBQ joint to participate in this party-market crossover. Attain a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse at some of your favourite Disney animated films as the ArtScience Museum will be presenting Disney: Magic of Animation, for the first time ever in Southeast Asia. Over 500 pieces of art from a wide array of films will be displayed at this landmark exhibition, including artist sketches, audio-visual displays, projections and interactive activities. Through Mar 29

Singaporean artist Liana Yang is putting on Print Room: Speak Softly. Speak Low at DECK this month, examining the ups and downs of relationships. Sounds interesting? Head down to find out more.
