Singapore Cable Car’s futuristic SkyOrb Cabins have glass-bottomed floors for a spectacular view

The new SkyOrb Cabins on the Singapore Cable Car – Mount Faber Line are unlike conventional cabins.

Going beyond the boundaries of traditional cable car aesthetics, the new cabins feature a futuristic chrome-finished spherical design that stand out against the skyline. They were exclusively designed for Singapore Cable Car through a collaboration between Mount Faber Leisure Group and cable car cabin manufacturer CWA.

There are seven of such spherical cabins which will be ready to board guests from Mar 20.

The best part – unless you are scared of heights – is the glass-bottomed floors that allow people to view the scenery below their feet. While it’s not a new feature (Singapore Cable Car introduced the world’s first glass-bottomed cabin in 1999), it still offers an elevated, if slightly nerve-racking journey with a stunning panoramic view of the skyline. As night falls, a ring of lights surrounds the cabin windows for an illuminating glow.

The SkyOrb Cabins have also been designed with double window louvres at the front and triple window louvres at the rear, providing enhanced air ventilation for guests on board.

Tickets will be available for sale at the Singapore Cable Car Mount Faber and Sentosa Station ticketing counters from Mar 20. Mount Faber Line and Cable Car Sky Pass ticket holders have the privilege of upgrading one-way of their round trip (between Mount Faber and Sentosa Cable Car Stations) to a SkyOrb Cabin experience. This upgrade costs $15 per person on weekdays, and $20 per person on weekends and public holidays.
