In a curious case of mistaken identity, a local newspaper made a little booboo recently when a journalist, who had conducted an interview with legendary jazz and folk singer Rickie Lee Jones, mistook her for the other folk singer Joni Mitchell instead. Of course, considering all the aforementioned similarities between the two, it’s easy to see why this kind of mistake could occur—only if you’re a numbskull, for sure.Now, we’re almost certain that these kinds of goofs could easily happen again. Our predictions of mistaken identities most likely to be published in the local press for the year are (drum roll, please):• Singapore Idols Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza. Heartland boys, check. Mildly good looks, check. Lousy first album, check.• Kumar and Beyonce. Hey, it could happen.• Rocker Marilyn Manson with that geeky kid from The Wonder Years. We still think they’re the same guy though.• Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson—well, if you’re not looking at them, but just listening to them, at least.• Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia Barrino. Both are big-voiced divas with a lot to proof.• Ivan Heng and The Playboy Bunny. Both are for gentlemen only.• The Merlion and Elvis Presley—same hairstyle.• Any female Channel 8 artiste—can you tell the difference?• Any of our water polo team players—can you tell the difference?• Any of our local bands—can you tell the difference?• MM Lee Kuan Yew and Ah Meng. Both are national icons.
