Sunset Cinema Tanjong Beach just released an exciting lineup of film screenings

We previously reported on the mysterious Sunset Cinema Tanjong Beach, organized by the same people who do Films at the Fort. Now, they’ve just released more info on what to expect when the multi-day beachside film festival finally happens over two weekends in May.

For one, they’ve kept their promise of presenting “award-winning films, tropical beach sunset, DJs, bars, food stalls, deck chairs.” Also, it’s going to be Singapore’s first-ever silent cinema event. Much like London’s Silent Disco series, which has had many events across Singapore (including in heartlands like Tampines and Punggol), the audio for all the feature films screened will be broadcasted through fancy wireless headphones, which will be loaned to you when you arrive. The day starts at 5pm, where you can enjoy the sunset and overall summer ambience (there’ll be DJs and instrumentalists providing music) as you guzzle down tipples and fill your tummy with some food.

The feature films will begin at 7:30pm. From May 5-14, have your pick from blockbusters like Arrival, a sci-fi thriller about a linguistics professor (played by Amy Adams) who races against time to try and find out the intentions of extra-terrestrial beings who’ve landed 12 of their spaceships around the world; Natalie Portman’s gripping portrayal of America’s former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy following the JFK assasination in Jackie; Lion, the awe-inspiring true story of a young Indian boy who gets lost on a train and ends up adopted by an Australian couple and his journey back to his birth family 25 years later using bits of memories and Google Earth; and many more. There’ll even be shuttle buses that’ll take you back to HarbourFront MRT after each screening.

Tickets are $29.80 a pop. For more information and a full line-up, click here.
