The spookiest of seasons has arrived, bringing us the first wave of Halloween events. Just a couple to tie you over for now, before the three-day weekend comes around with plenty more.
FESTIVAL
Sip on curated bespoke cocktails and wines while catching performances by some of our favourite local artists at Raffles Hotel Singapore’s reopening festival. Eats by Tiffin Room, La Dame de Pic and even the newly-opened Burger & Lobster will be available. Oct 18

Get excited for Oktoberfest Asia 2019, where festival-goers will get to enjoy a free flow of beers from Erdinger WeiBbrau and Paulaner Brauhaus. If an authentic German experience is what you crave, purchase a VIP pass, as VIPs will be entitled to a special Oktoberfest buffet too. Plus, entertainment will be provided by a legit Munchen band, Rock Oompahs, whose members will don traditional Lederhosens and play classic pop dance tunes, and traditional German Oktoberfest music. Stay woke at Biennials as Public Space, where Taiwanese arts professor Hongjohn Lin will discuss the planning of arts projects, working around the instrumentalisation of art and how the public can engage in various situations when building social relations. Oct 18

An illuminated playground awaits, with neon installations, roving LED stilt walkers and even three giant neon sculptures. Taking place at The Seafood Market Place by Song Fish is a farmer’s market this weekend, with a new grocery shopping experience. Live cooking demos and free samples will be offered, as well as plenty of fresh produce. Oct 19

Nowhere else will you find a more passionate annual gathering of local beer lovers than at iBrew Challenge, an annual competition and festival of sorts, where homebrewers showcase their beers to the public, as well as to a panel of esteemed judges in hopes of winning the coveted Best of Show accolade. Happening at the UE Square Skylight Atrium is The Alternative Market (or Alt Mkt) 2019, making a glorious return after a year’s hiatus since its debut in 2017. Organised by Temple Cellars, the same folks behind Sake Matsuri, look forward to a similar concept where you’ll get free-flowing tastings throughout the entire duration of the event for a flat price. Another rooftop carpark party is happening at Golden Mile, as Lion City Bass is returning to the venue to dish out dubstep, hip-hop bass and disco. Oct 19

Not-for-profit arts society The Arts Place will be revising Gaetano Donizetti’s Italian comic masterpiece Don Pasquale into a Singlish opera for their debut opera production. Oddly interesting, catch this show for just two evenings in October. Oct 19-20
EXHIBITION
BBT lovers must head to The Bubble Tea Factory, a two-month experiential pop-up at *Scape, to eat, drink and play with bubble tea. Find over 10 installations that will feature boba, and get Insta-worthy shots all across the 7000 sq ft space. Oct 19-Dec 18
SHOW
As part of Got To Move 2019, an initative by the National Arts Council, the Diverse Abilities Dance Collective proves that dance is for everyone and anyone, by welcoming everyone from children with special needs to elderly nursing home residents to their dance sessions. Through these sessions, attendees will learn how to get comfortable with expressing themselves through dance, while also gaining a better understanding of each other.
