Another year zooms by as the world continues its battle against the ongoing pandemic. Reeling from the seeming transience of the past 12 months, we take a look back at all the good that has transpired over the year and look forward to another year of pleasant news.
Behind the Wall gave us a heartwarming reminder about the beauty of human connection, and the importance of showing kindness and empathy to the people around us.
We witnessed the opening of (possibly) the world’s first physical store dedicated to the vulva and luxury intimate care by TWO L(I)PS, after having welcomed Womanizer’s Premium Eco – the world’s first biodegradable and recyclable female sex toy – to our shores.
Our Zoo teamed up with SPCA to launch Furever Yours, a new programme specifically made for shelter dogs, to give them a chance to shine and find new furever homes.
The inaugural Heartlands Festival gave us an island-wide celebration of Singapore’s roots and our suburban heroes with interactive trails through our heartlands and weekly events that encourage the public to support the unspoken tradesmen who represent a bridge to our cultural past.
Dream Cruises added to their efforts to promote homegrown talents and products with a second iteration of their Support Local initiative. Bringing another group of local brands onboard their World Dream liner, vacationers also get to enjoy new and unique experiences on a cruise.
On sustainability, Open Farm Community launched their Farm Feast which harkens to our heritage’s kampung-inspired dining, promoting communality whilst highlighting the use of local and regionally-sourced produce.
As a nod to our technological advancements, the ArtScience Museum launched a new permanent virtual reality gallery equipped with state-of-the-art VR headsets and controllers for visitors to immerse themselves in the works of the world’s best contemporary artists.
We also celebrated the birth of another 3 Michelin-starred restaurant. Alongside Odette and Les Amis, Zen’s achievement means that our tiny island now boasts three 3-starred establishments. Shaking our F&B scene up, Singapore’s newest fine dining restaurant opened with a menu that presents diners with an unforgettable range of culinary brilliance dedicated to showcasing the best of prized caviar from around the world.
As we close the chapter on a year filled with heartening endeavours, here’s to an even greater year ahead filled with hope and all-around positivity.
