Neon Lights, It’s The Ship, and other wild parties all happening before the year ends

November doesn’t get enough props for being a great month. Not only is this the month that marks the beginning of the holiday season, it also happens to play host to some of the wildest parties and music festivals around. For starters, Neon Lights is returning for a two-day concert with headliners like Halsey and Mumford & Sons. Then there’s the insane blowout that is It’s The Ship 2019, a secret garden party, and debuting music series, Sound Port, at popular nightlife hotspot Clarke Quay. Go crazy people, 2019 is coming to a close.

PARTY

Find a community garden edibles competition, aquascape and terrarium displays, a marketplace, and more, at the Community Garden Festival 2019. A showcase of soulful works await at the Passages Contemporary Season by the Singapore Dance Theatre. Watch four diverse and riveting pieces; the premiere will be accompanied by Natalie Weir’s sensational Bittersweet, Val Caniparoli’s Swipe, and Toru Shimazaki’s emotive performance, Blue Snow. FESTIVAL 
Returning this November is the long-standing, annual literary fiesta that is the Singapore Writers Festival, with new festival director and poet Pooja Nansi at the helm. Themed "A Language of Our Own", the festival is now in its 22nd edition and will explore the role of language through the formation of communities and expression of identities in today’s age. As part of Esplanade's Spectrum 2019, London Sinfonietta returns with three innovative and expressive works including Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen's Schnee (a showcase of aural perspectives of snow), Oliver Knussen's set of four miniature works Songs Without Voices (featuring 3 poems complete poems with each syllable "set" to music for instruments and the fourth featuring the cor anglais) and last but not least, an encounter with Singapore composer Diana Soh in Modicum (a work consisting of seven short movements, the sequence of which is shuffled or rearranged for every performance. Following its inaugural edition in 2018, the Street Superior Festival will head to *Scape this year to take over five floors in a complete celebration of everything street-related. Custom sneaker artists like Chase Shiel, TK Collective and Hypethetic are showcasing their best, alongside Fogaat, known for his ways of deconstructing then upcycling kicks into headgear. Nov 2-3

FOOD/DRINK
Get excited for grilled meats and stouts, as Guinness’ The Great Grill Out is taking over the Dempsey enclave for its second edition. Expect plenty of rich and creamy Guinness available for $10 a pint, to go with grilled eats by local favourites like Camp Kilo Charcoal Club, Red Eye Smokehouse, Sidecar Sausages and MeatSmith. FESTIVAL
November will mark a first for The Conscious Festival when it returns as an entirely vegan festival. Organised by Green Is The New Black, the eco-festival is slated to take on the sparkling South Beach for its fifth edition. The 13th edition of Arts in Your Neighbourhood will be taking place across three weekends this month. Discover Singapore’s early history at On Paper: Singapore Before 1867 which features over 150 paper-based artefacts that tell the story of Singapore’s early history.
